CCPL and Coronavirus (COVID-19)

    Updated 6/11/2020

As Indiana moves into the next stage of the governor's Back on Track plan, the library is also expanding its services.

The Main Library is now open to the public during special hours (see below). We ask that you limit your visit to quick, grab-and-go visits, such as selecting things to check out, checking out holds, and updating your library card. Curbside holds pickup is still available during select hours for those who prefer it. Study rooms, seating areas, and tutoring areas are closed, and access to computers and printers is limited. Face masks are required when visiting the library in this phase. Please review our Guidelines for Safe Library Visits below before you stop by.

Main Library Hours (quick visits only, please)

    Mon-Thu 1:00pm-7:00pm

    Fri-Sat 1:00pm-4:00pm

Main Library Curbside Holds Pickup Hours

    Mon-Sat 9:00am-12:00pm (no appointment necessary)

Also in this phase, we are extending curbside holds pickup to the West Branch. Be sure to select the West Branch as your preferred pickup location in your online account, and then watch for your hold notification email or text to arrive with pickup instructions. (Learn how to set the West Branch as your hold pickup location or change your hold pickup location for existing holds. If you need help, call us at 317-844-3362.)

West Branch Curbside Holds Pickup Hours

    Mon-Sat 12:00pm-5:00pm

The West Branch remains closed to the public at this time.

Checked-out items may be returned to either the Main Library or to the drive-up returns slot at the West Branch.

The Digital Media Lab is providing 3D printing service in this phase. The lab remains closed to visitors at this time.

The Bookmobile remains closed. The Foundation Friends are not accepting donated books and other materials at this time.

We are expanding our virtual program opportunities, so visit our website calendar to see the activities that you can view and take part in from home.

Library staff are available to assist you by phone at 317-814-3900 and through our live Chat with a Librarian service Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You may also reach out to us at any time using our Contact Us form.

    CCPL's COVID-19 Safety Measures Plan

To help ensure a safe environment for our library patrons and staff, the Carmel Clay Public Library is taking the following steps to minimize the chance of spreading the COVID-19 virus:

Employee Health Screening: Library staff are asked to take their temperature before each work shift and are not to report to work if they have a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher. Staff who are experiencing a fever or other CDC-recognized symptoms of COVID-19 are asked to remain at home and to contact their healthcare provider.

Enhanced Cleaning Protocols: Library staff clean high-touch surfaces multiple times a day. The library facility is cleaned by a professional cleaning service on a nightly basis. Returned library materials are quarantined for 72 hours before being placed back into circulation. Children's play areas and materials are unavailable.

Availability of Hand-Washing Facilities and Personal Hygiene Measures: Library patrons and staff have access to multiple restrooms with hand-washing procedure guidelines posted at the sinks. Hand sanitizer is available at key locations throughout the facilities.

Social Distancing Requirements: Library staff are required to wear face masks in the vicinity of other staff and at all times in public areas. Patrons are also required to wear face masks within the library unless they are under age 3 or have a health condition that restricts the use of a mask. Physical distancing of six feet or more should be maintained by library staff and patrons. Barriers have been placed at service desks. Seating has been limited. Curbside pickup of holds and virtual online programs are being offered.
